Full time and Part-Time
Role:
Caregivers provide non-medical paraprofessional services to the agency's home care clients, as
assessed in the care plan and in compliance with the client's Service Agreement.
Scope of Position:
Reports to Homewatch Caregivers Caregiver Manager/Director. Position is
deemed a safety-sensitive position, in which job performance can affect the safety of employee and
others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Experience as a caregiver in a home care setting, Assisted Living/Memory care, Skilled
- Must meet hiring criteria as defined in the agency's minimum standards, to include eligibility
Card, First Aid/CPR certification, and TB Surveillance Screening.
- Must practice good hygiene and maintain a positive appearance.
- Must be able to function with mínimal supervision, accepting personal responsibility for
- Must accept responsibility for maintaining skills and learning on an ongoing basis, as well as
- Does not administer medication or perform any procedures requiring the knowledge or skills
instructions.
- Must have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Must be able to practice and utilize proper body mechanics with client transfers and mobility
- Must be able to understand and support safe work practices in promotion of accident
- Proficient in light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, meal preparation/cooking, washing
- Must be able to identify client change of condition and report all changes/incidents to
- Must pass all background screening with satisfactory results for initial hire and annually
Clearance Card, in addition to maintaining all required credentials to include: CPR and First
- Aid certifications, in addition to annual TB Surveillance Screening.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting the agency's clients with their personal care needs in accordance
- Responsible for assisting clients with activities of daily living in a safe and beneficial
- Must possess effective communication skills.
- Must be able to read and comprehend instructions in accordance with the client's Plan of
- Must understand and comply with company safety and infection control policies and
- Monitoring and identification of client change of condition and incidents with reporting of all
Physical Qualifications:
- Able to work an average of 20-40 hours per week.
- Ability to work assigned shifts with ability to always remain awake and alert.
- Able to bend, climb, stoop, and stand an average of 5 hours per day.
- Able to lift 20-30 pounds.
- Ability to use tools necessary for job.
