Shift Type:
Full time and Part-Time

Role:
Caregivers provide non-medical paraprofessional services to the agency's home care clients, as
assessed in the care plan and in compliance with the client's Service Agreement.

Scope of Position:
Reports to Homewatch Caregivers Caregiver Manager/Director. Position is
deemed a safety-sensitive position, in which job performance can affect the safety of employee and
others.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Experience as a caregiver in a home care setting, Assisted Living/Memory care, Skilled
Nursing/Rehabilitation facility or hospital.

  • Must meet hiring criteria as defined in the agency's minimum standards, to include eligibility
to pass 50 state national background check, Arizona DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance
Card, First Aid/CPR certification, and TB Surveillance Screening.

  • Must practice good hygiene and maintain a positive appearance.
  • Must be able to function with mínimal supervision, accepting personal responsibility for
maintaining a professional relationship with the client.

  • Must accept responsibility for maintaining skills and learning on an ongoing basis, as well as
adhering to agency policies.

  • Does not administer medication or perform any procedures requiring the knowledge or skills
of a licensed nurse or medical provider. Performs medication reminders as per Plan of Care
instructions.

  • Must have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to practice and utilize proper body mechanics with client transfers and mobility
requirements.

  • Must be able to understand and support safe work practices in promotion of accident
prevention and company safety program.

  • Proficient in light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, meal preparation/cooking, washing
dishes, and vacuuming.

  • Must be able to identify client change of condition and report all changes/incidents to
Homewatch CareGivers, in addition to initiation of emergency procedures, as necessary.

  • Must pass all background screening with satisfactory results for initial hire and annually
thereafter; to include 50 state background check and Arizona DPS Level 1 Fingerprint
Clearance Card, in addition to maintaining all required credentials to include: CPR and First

  • Aid certifications, in addition to annual TB Surveillance Screening.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the agency's clients with their personal care needs in accordance
with the care plan and qualifications (CCG/CAN/Non-Certified CG).

  • Responsible for assisting clients with activities of daily living in a safe and beneficial
manner.

  • Must possess effective communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend instructions in accordance with the client's Plan of
Care.

  • Must understand and comply with company safety and infection control policies and
procedures.

  • Monitoring and identification of client change of condition and incidents with reporting of all
changes to Homewatch CareGivers.


Physical Qualifications:

  • Able to work an average of 20-40 hours per week.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts with ability to always remain awake and alert.
  • Able to bend, climb, stoop, and stand an average of 5 hours per day.
  • Able to lift 20-30 pounds.
  • Ability to use tools necessary for job.
