The Shop Manager is able to quickly adapt and change gears throughout the day; they are available on a consistent and reliable basis to meet all shop needs and staffing needs as they arise.
The Shop Manager role is a great fit for an ambitious, organized, mature professional who is excited and prepared to manage and oversee varying Penny teams and locations.
This person represents our well-established brand in both Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County.The Shop Manager works closely with Upper Management to achieve business objectives at the shop level by implementing strategy through a combination of skillful execution and effective leadership.
A strong sense of ownership and personal autonomy are required to succeed in this role, as well as the ability to build and nurture vital relationships with team members, vendors, patrons and the surrounding community.
Our current Penny locations in the South Bay are:The State Street Market in Los Altos, andThe Town and Country Village in Palo AltoRequirementsJob Duties & Requirements:Staff ManagementTrain, manage, coach, and discipline staff; upholding expectations of excellenceEnsure smooth daily operations at all timesSchedule staff and analyze labor cost on a weekly basisCommunicate with staff regularly; perform weekly check-ins to ensure successBe the first point of contact for staff inquiries, questions, and concernsMonitor and manage staff breaksConduct working interviews to assess potential candidatesAnticipate future staffing needs; strategize with Upper ManagementMonitor staff adherence to business policies and take corrective actions as neededBuild and maintain a strong, hands on managerial presence in multiple shopsGuest Service ManagementDemonstrate excellence, warmth and professionalism in all guest service interactionsServe as a brand ambassador for The Penny Ice Creamery; proudly represent the core values of the businessUphold The Penny Ice Creamery reputation and that of The Glass Jar, Inc.
Resolve delicate guest service situations with poise and professionalismInventory ManagementOversee product quality at multiple locationsConduct weekly paper goods inventory at multiple locations and place orders as neededConduct regular kitchen and ice cream inventories for multiple locationsCoordinate deliveries of product across locations using requisition protocolMonitor & order apron, towel, sanitizer and soap inventory as neededMonitor inventory for all products or items at multiple locations as neededShops ManagementEnsure health safety protocols are followed at multiple shop locations; ensure shop and staff preparedness for impromptu health inspector visitsOversee daily shop upkeep to maintain an impeccable presentationMaintain and troubleshoot essential equipment, communicating any major issues to Upper ManagementManage change banks; Monitor deposits and cash reconciliation for accuracyMake cost-cutting and efficiency recommendations to Upper Management based on regular assessmentBenefitsBenefits &Perks Include:
