Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:
Revitalize the finance team and clean up existing processes.

Lead, Manage and Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting Inventory, and Revenue Recognition.

Financial Planning and Analysis:
Provide financial planning and analysis support to cross-functional teams.

Manage the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, and regular budget-to-actual reviews.

Tax Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare sales tax returns (US, Canadian, & International).

Ensure accuracy of tax provisions and other tax accounts in financial statements.

Maintain tax software and reconcile tax accounts.

Identify and research tax issues to maintain compliance.

Prepare the annual audit file for tax provisions and liaise with external auditors.

Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

System and Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes and productivity.

Assist with system reviews and maintain accurate inventory records.

Set up automation for weekly reports and assist with wire payments and cheque runs as needed.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Audit and Reporting:
Prepare all reports and assist with audit inquiries related to the inventory cycle.

Assemble and complete all monthly financial reports (e.g., Trial Balance, General Ledger, Financial Statements).

Support moth-end and year-end close processes.

Review and respond to reassessment notices from tax authorities.

Sales and Pricing Analysis:
Run sales forecasts by product category, sales channel, and item.

Analyze and report on sales trends, promotional results, and return rates.

Backup Duties:
Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as needed.

Backup Assist with Accounts Payable functions such as wire payments and cheque runs as needed.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting

CPA designation required.

3-5+ years of experience, including 2 years in Distribution

Strong understanding of US taxation laws and regulations

Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word

Experience with NetSuite ERP preferred; Amazon Accounting experience is a plus.
