    Job Description

    The Junior Environmental Engineer will be ultimately responsible for managing the environmental processes that happen at and around the ArcelorMittal Project team based at the Texas HBI plant by developing and implementing policies and procedures that assist in mitigating the risk of the of the plant's environmental factors on the surrounding environment. This person will support decision making in different areas.

    Tasks & Responsibilities:
    • Knows, understands, and follows all Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements
    • Support, coordinate, over-see, follow-up on any environmental incidents as required
    • Perform environmental site inspections and complete respective documentation
    • Provide guidance and recommendations to improve engineering controls to achieve and maintain compliance
    • Consult with regulatory agencies, such as TCEQ and EPA, to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements
    • Verifying any hazardous chemicals; labeling, handling, and disposing of these chemicals appropriately and within company and government laws and regulations
    • Perform sampling, measurements, observations, and investigations as required
    • Create and provide reports as required
    • Provide technical environmental expertise and support to project teams and other departments
    • Communicate and increase environmental awareness within the facility
    • Conduct and track environmental training for all employees & contractors as required
    • Ensure environmental standards are being followed throughout the plant
    • Comply with all company safety and quality procedures and policies
    • Performs other duties assigned as needed
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies or related Science/Engineering field required
    • At least 3-5 years of Environmental Engineer/Specialist experience in an industrial setting strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements for the industry
    • Specific environmental knowledge (e.g. permits, plans, policies) applicable to ArcelorMittal Texas HBI
    • Should have working knowledge of SPCC, SWPPP, waste management systems, Title V, GHG, Tier II, TRI, chemical hygiene and handling plans, as well as reporting systems of the TCEQ.
    • Ability to effectively respond to environmental incidents
    • Ability to create and complete reports within deadlines as required
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) & using CRM software
    • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing. Skills will be used to produce quality reports and thorough instructions and directions
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
    • Must be eligible to work in the United States
