SUMMARY:

Creates a developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth while making sure an effective rapport is established with students, families, staff members and outside community agencies.

Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary school success.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plans and evaluates daily classroom activities to ensure they are developmentally appropriate and reflect the diversity and culture of the class under the direction of an appropriately certified Special Education Preschool Teacher.
  • Supports and develops plans related to goals set for individual children.
  • Communicates effectively with prekindergarten children 35 years of age and adults from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Maintains ongoing communication (written and verbal) with parents/guardians.
  • Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans under the direction of Arizona Child Find Tracking requirements.
  • Maintains all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Works with district specialists as appropriate.
  • Attends required preschool workshops, trainings and meetings as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the District.
  • Sets student goals and monitors and evaluates student progress using district recommended techniques.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Must provide documentation of the following requirements:

  • Must provide documentation of
    oneof the following:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and have three years of child care experience and have a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma;
    or:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have one year of child care experience and have at least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field;

OR

  • Have an associate or bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closelyrelated field;

OR

  • Be National Administrator Credential (N.A.C.), Child Development Association (C.D.A)., or Child Care Professional (C.C.P) credentialed.

LICENSING:


  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification from an accredited agency (must be in person certification; online training is not acceptable).
  • Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (
    IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Preschool learning programs for children ages 35.

  • Composing and maintaining basic original documents including reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines and prioritizing competing demands.

  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.


Medium Work:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
