    Job Summary

    3:00pm - 11:0pm


    The Lead Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department on all shifts.

    Job Specific Responsibilities

    Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:


    • Properly test equipment and document following sterility assurance guidelines
    • Reports to SPD Management any issues stemming on all shifts
    • Process and package instruments and instrument sets to be used in surgical procedures
    • Properly package and load items on the carriage for sterilization
    • Store, issue, and track equipment; this includes delivery and pick up from various departments
    • Operate, monitor, and exchange the Detergent Management System
    • Operate all SPD equipment in a safe and efficient manner
    • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with SPD equipment
    • All other assigned related duties
    Education and Experience


    • High School Diploma or GED
    * + 3 years of experience in Sterile Processing and/or Instrumentation Room

    Required Licensures/Certifications/Registration


    • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Tech,
    • OR CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech,
    • OR Certified Surgical Tech with the expectation of receiving either CRCST or CSPDT within the first twelve months of hire.
    Skills and Abilities


    • Computer literate; Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
    • Medical terminology helpful
    Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

    Frequent interaction with various departments throughout the hospital

    Physical Capabilities

    Work is of heavy demand. Walking and standing most of the time on duty.

    The technician will occasionally be required to push or pull carts weighting as much as 200 pounds and lifting items as heavy as 40 pounds.

    Frequent reaching and bending required. Frequent handling of instruments is necessary. Sight, speech and hearing are a must. Days and hours of duty will vary.

    Environmental/Working Conditions

    The decontamination work is done in an area that is at high risk for exposure to blood born pathogens. Exposure risk to high temperature steam and hydrogen peroxide. This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
