We are seeking a compassionate and bilingual Hospice Chaplain to join our dedicated hospice care team.

As a Bilingual Hospice Chaplain, you will serve a pivotal role in providing spiritual care and support to patients and their families during their end-of-life journey.

Your ability to communicate in multiple languages will be crucial in offering comfort, understanding, and spiritual guidance in a culturally sensitive manner.


Responsibilities:

Spiritual Guidance:


  • Offer spiritual support and guidance to patients and their families, respecting diverse beliefs and cultural practices.
  • Facilitate discussions and prayers tailored to the individual's spiritual needs and preferences.

Cultural Sensitivity:


  • Communicate effectively in multiple languages to ensure culturally sensitive and inclusive spiritual care.
  • Recognize and honor various cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and practices in the provision of care.

Emotional Support:


  • Provide compassionate companionship, actively listening and addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Assist in coping with endoflife issues, grief, and loss, offering comfort and solace.

Collaboration:


  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary hospice team, including nurses, social workers, and other chaplains, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in care planning discussions and contribute to a holistic approach to patient care.

Documentation:


  • Maintain detailed records of spiritual care provided and any significant observations or changes in a patient's spiritual wellbeing.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements in accordance with hospice regulations.

Education and Advocacy:


  • Educate patients and families on the spiritual support available and respect their beliefs and preferences.
  • Advocate for patients' spiritual rights and preferences, ensuring these are upheld and respected.

Role Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in theology, divinity, or a related field. Chaplaincy certification or its equivalent is required.

Bilingual Proficiency: Fluency in English and Spanish at least, if you speak any other languages in addition to these please list them in your resume.

Cultural Competence: Respect and understanding of diverse cultural and spiritual beliefs, practices, and customs.

Compassion: Demonstrated empathy, sensitivity, and a compassionate approach in providing spiritual care.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and the hospice team.

Collaboration: Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary hospice team, contributing to comprehensive patient care.

Ethical Conduct: Upholding high ethical standards, maintaining patient confidentiality, and respecting autonomy.

Reliability: Punctuality and dependability to ensure consistent spiritual care and support.
