The New York County District Attorney Office's (DANY's) Community Partnerships Unit (CPU) is seeking to hire a Supervisor of Community Engagement to enhance the office's efforts to host events that raise awareness about the criminal justice system and public safety issues.

The Office seeks to provide a better understanding of the role of the District Attorney's Office and to foster trust and partnership with the community in addressing public safety.

This role will be based in the Community Partnerships Unit, reporting to the Deputy Director for Community Engagement and Events.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with CPU Leadership and other unit leaders as a cohesive leadership and supervisory team
  • Coordinate community events that raise awareness and build trust with DANY.
  • Oversee the creation of partner lists, invitations, RSVPs, flyers, and other outreach materials.
  • Maintain and update partner lists.
  • Provide event summaries and outcomes.
  • Create and distribute follow up items after events.
  • Support CPU Deputy Director in supervision and support of CPU Community Engagement Coordinators.
  • Represent DANY at community meetings as necessary.
  • Compile and draft talking points for Engagement Team.
  • Perform all assignments in an accurate, professional, and expeditious manner.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Level bachelor's degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of experience in community work or community centered activities.
  • Level bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of experience in community work or community centered activities.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:


  • Supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking ability.
  • Superior organizational, writing and communication skills.
  • Creative problemsolving abilities.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment.
  • Strong speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong desire to promote understanding of the criminal justice system.

Hours/Shift:


  • Monday
  • Friday, 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

  • Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:


  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
