Summary:
The Santa Clara Convention Center is committed to providing the most memorable experiences to our guests through professional and thoughtful services in a safe and welcoming environment.
The Cook position is a hands on role that is a very important part of delivering upon our commitment to quality guest experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and company health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Follow proper food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures daily.
Prepare and produce daily menu items per the production schedule, including advance prep for upcoming days.
Ensure consistent high-quality food standards and presentation.
Review event orders daily and prepare items according to guest requirements.
Receive, inspect, rotate, label, date, and properly store all food products.
Complete accurate daily records for orders, inventory, waste, food safety, and sanitation.
Communicate shortages or overages and adjust production as needed.
Maintain professional conduct on and off duty, aware of visibility to guests and staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Four years of progressive experience in a high‑volume kitchen.
Skilled in preparing meals for special diets and dietary restrictions.
Strong team player with a positive, collaborative approach.
Able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work at a fast pace.
Serve Safe Food Certification (or equivalent).
