GLP German Light Products, based in Van Nuys, California are looking for someone to join the company in the role of Regional Sales Manager.

This Regional Sales Manager position will be based out of North East USA


GLP are one of the worlds' leading manufacturers of automated entertainment lighting, supplying products that ultimately end up on film and television sets, live concerts, theatre stages, and much more across the country.


Organizational Placement:

The RSM reports directly to the Sales & Marketing Director within the regional organization.

The RSM has direct communication with the majority of staff within the company, on a daily basis, for practical working methods.


Areas of Responsibility:


The RSM plans, organizes and implements sales and marketing strategies within the sales organization for their assigned territory, in line with the company strategy and guidelines.

The RSM has overall responsibility for achieving the sales objectives within their assigned territory.


Sales targets will be made for all product ranges sold in North America by GLP that will need to be achieved consistently by the RSM.

All brands sold by GLP US Inc. must be handled by the RSM with an approach that reflects the individual brand values.


The RSM is 100% focused on sales and sales related activities, and will have contact to existing and potential customers and specifiers.


The RSM's main responsibility is to drive sales within their territory through an assigned dealer network by planning and coordinating activities, monitoring budget achievement, training and motivating dealer partners.

The RSM is directly responsible for developing, driving, and maintaining a strong and sustaining sales network.

A good deal of traveling will be necessary, including some international travel on occasions.

The RSM will be responsible for the primary customer interaction with the sales organization within their territory.


Summary of Essential Job Functions:


  • The RSM will work closely with the Sales & Marketing Director to discuss, initiate and roll out sales and customer strategies within their territory
  • The RSM will develop and execute approved sales and business development plans
  • The RSM will need to have direct contact with specifiers of various types (lighting designers, consultants, set designers, video designers, architects etc.) to promote the product ranges and to ensure their specification level is increased on an ongoing basis
  • Regional offices of key / national accounts (also referred to as 'House Accounts') will need to be handled on an ongoing basis, and coordinate with the main GLP US office
  • Develop thorough understanding of customer needs and convincingly offer the best solution from the company
  • Understand and keep up to date with competitor offerings
  • Supply timely market intelligence
  • Share best practices with other sales people in the organization
  • Ensure competence development of the RSM's own territory sales organization through training and information meetings

Qualifications & Demands:


The RSM needs to possess excellent communication and presentation skills as well as have the ability to effectively work with employees and customers at all levels.

A solid understanding and acceptance of GLP's future direction and strategy is a key demand.

Strong communication and networking skills are preferred.

Ability to proactively work across different groups of specifiers and customers with a positive influence.

  • Strong knowledge of all brands and products sold by GLP
  • Strong knowledge of competitors products and strategies
  • Strong sales competences
  • Motivational must have the ability to supervise and motivate an extensive sales network in the promotion and sales of GLP products
  • Commercial understanding of their sales territory
  • Open and willing to share information with colleagues across different territories
  • Negotiation skills

KPI's:


  • Sales revenue and profit margin
  • Gross profit and gross margin for each product and customer
  • Expense control
  • Customer relationship building and repeat business level

Compensation:


  • Compensation is $75k 85k annually, plus commission
