About the Role:

The Head of PCO Center of Excellence will;

  • Create and heads crossdivisional Centers of Excellence (CoE) for Patient-Centered Outcomes (PCOs) within CD responsible for mastering crossfunctional PCO knowledge in different functions of CD.
  • Enhance and drives alignment of activities among Franchises and Global Program Teams to elevate PCO activities to a level of industry leadership.
  • Represent Novartis externally in HA and payer discussions.
  • Direct and/or indirectly influences GPHs, GPCHs, and HEOR directors.

What You'll Be Doing:
Lead the Patient-Centered Outcomes Center of Excellence to develop and strengthen core expertise in these areas:
Accountable for the functional excellence in Patient Centered Outcomes development and implementation across the organization.

Lead multidisciplinary teams of senior functional experts focusing on facilitating and monitoring of development and implementation of Patient Centered Outcomes strategy in individual GPTs including leadership of Patient Centered Outcomes Steering Committee comprised of representatives from patient engagement, digital endpoints, HEOR, and CD Patient Centered Outcomes.

Accountable for overseeing Patient Centered Outcomes content in development programs and ensuring quality inputs for regulatory and market access purposes.

Drive capability building for the CD community encompassing all major aspects in Patient Centered Outcomes Development, leveraging cross-functional exchange of expertise with key internal and external stakeholders.

Drive cross divisional best practice.
Establish short
- and long-range vision and strategy for Patient Centered Outcomes development and implementation.

Leverage knowledge, experience and understanding of external stakeholders, internal capability to develop a compelling and innovative PCO vision for the overall company and for individual programs/brands.

Ensure cross functional and cross divisional alignment.
Drive and/or anticipate internal and external changes in PCO requirements to maintain a constantly, state-of-the-art output in the area.
Minimize redundant use of resources and avoid need for redeveloping PCO instruments for newly established projects
Interact with management Boards (i.e. DCN, IMB) to secure internal buy for overall strategy.
Collaborate with GPTs to secure individual program internal buy.
Collaborate with NIBR to develop a strategy of early-stage implementation of PCO Plans from PoC stage
Drive integration of "digital development" into the PCO process (ePCOs)
Lead full integration of digital solutions to collect and aggregate PCOs into development process.
Identify and select suitable digital tools and drive validation of the same.
Lead discussion with HAs and payers about acceptability and value of ePCOs
Represent Novartis externally in HAs and payers discussions concerning PCOs and impact on individual products.
Responsible for Health Authorities interaction concerning PCOs policy and guidelines.
Drive and support individual teams in their interaction with HAs and Payers concerning PCOs.

Role Requirements:


What you'll Bring to the Role:

  • Advanced life science degree preferably medical degree
  • Fluent English (oral and written)
  • Minimum 15 years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience preferably across several fields
  • Profound knowledge of the global drug development process spanning from research to commercialization with emphasis on projects requiring PROs in their development
  • Inspiring leader capable of fostering a sense of belonging without formal authority
  • 10+ years experience in international and multidisciplinary drug development teams
  • Strong organization skills and process orientation
  • Expert in communication and Information management.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $298,400 - $447,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/2 through 12/31/24
