Duties:


As a
MILITARY and FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, GS , you will serve as fully independent advisor within geographical area of responsibility in accomplishing all objectives of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) for the Army National Guard to maximize retention and readiness; manage and operate family assistance center and provide assistance to commands within geographical area of responsibility in support of the SFRP; provide training and technical support to Commanders and Family Readiness Liaisons to support their Unit Family Readiness program and Soldier & Family Readiness Groups (SFRGs); submit information to support development and budget forecasting to support the Soldier and Family Readiness Support Program to higher headquarters.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.

Qualifications:


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level (GS-07) in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-07) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of managing, coordinating and planning family, quality-of-life or human services programs.

Experience providing advice and assistance on community resources and social service agencies/programs. Experience analyzing, evaluating and making recommendations for improvement of family, quality-of-life or human services programs. Experience developing newsletters, literature and training materials to support a program.

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:To qualify for GS-0301 Title 5 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below: Master's or equivalent graduate degree
  • OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

Knowledge in conducting the needs assessments to identify other programming needs of family members.
