    Job Description

    Are you a passionate, exceptional software engineer who wants to improve human health? Do you love designing and building software close to end users with quick feature iterations in response to feedback?


    We encourage the growth of deep technical knowledge across our stack, ranging from cloud-based virtualized backends all the way through to frontend javascript.

    Our engineers own their features end-to-end, and collaborate with subject matter and technical experts in the group to grow the knowledge and skills needed to deliver the optimal solutions.


    The product is a web application (Java & Postgresql backend, React frontend) that is in its infancy, with plenty of iterative development needed to add value for researchers and participants.


    We strive for diversity, openness, respect, freedom and responsibility, great code, and the ability to convert the sometimes fuzzy hopes and dreams of our research-driven stakeholders into valuable, working code.


    Overall, what gets us up in the morning is knowing that what we do makes a real difference in the lives of those who are impacted by complex disease.

    No medical, genomics, or scientific background is required, just an enthusiasm to improve the world of science and medicine, an ability to write exceptional software, and the ability to collaborate with scientists.

    Our Ideal Candidate Will

    Thrive on working in a collaborative team, interacting with Engineering, Product Management, and UX to iteratively deliver robust and resilient solutions
    Enjoy solving complicated problems and appreciate effective software engineering practices
    Have good attention to detail and take pride in the software produced
    Be able to work independently but know when to ask for or offer support to deliver working software
    Work as a full-stack developer

    Requirements

    1+ years of Software Development experience is preferred, though exceptional candidates with less will be considered.
    Experience developing APIs.
    Excellent communication skills.

    Preferred

    Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
    Familiarity with Java.
    Familiarity with React.
    Medical or research software experience.
