- Responsible for managing local, domestic, and international intercompany books, including consolidating financial statements from international operations and domestic plants, ensuring monthly and year-end closings are completed accurately.
- Oversee the entire general ledger process, adhering to both IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Spearhead month-end and year-end closure processes for precise and prompt financial reporting.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Handle comprehensive tax matters, including corporate income tax, sales tax in the U.S., and aspects of Canadian taxation, while directing all aspects of US corporate tax strategy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure the company's financial operations remain compliant and current.
- Collaborate with various teams to establish, refine, and innovate effective financial procedures, controls, and technology improvements to enhance department efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead the development and dissemination of internal and external financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows.
- Design and manage an internal controls framework to assess and ensure the effectiveness of financial controls.
- Build and maintain relationships with external entities such as auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Communicate essential financial and operational insights to management in a timely manner.
- Actively pursue enhancements that improve the accounting team's role and interaction within the company.
- Take on additional tasks and special projects as delegated by the Chief Financial Officer, including development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA required
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- 3+ years of accounting supervisory experience required
- Public accounting experience preferred
