Description

The Clinical Nurse on G17 Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Shift will be 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays required.

The Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit is a 48-bed unit and is one of our designated immunotherapy floors, administering research protocols involving immunotherapy and CARTOX therapy to patients, including Phase 1 clinical trials. As such, our staff receive additional training to develop the skills needed to provide exceptional care to patients receiving this progressive therapy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Accountable for managing and providing patient care in assigned area.
  • Assesses patient needs and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for care planning.
  • Participates in research studies, data collection, and integrates results into practice.
  • Shows clinical competency, compassion, and proficiency in care provision.
  • Documents care adhering to standards and ensures continuity through discharge planning and patient education.
  • Advocates for patients' rights and supports the team for optimal patient care.
EDUCATION:

Completion of an accredited school of professional nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

No prior experience needed.

All clinical nurses with less than one year of RN work experience must join the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

LICENSURE:

Must hold a current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). ACLS and PALS certifications required for specific departments.

No referral bonus or science job eligibility.
