Job Summary:

A Behavioral Health Technician ("BHT") provides direct support to the clients and the Clinical/Operations Team at the facility. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for the general management and observation of the client milieu.

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for monitoring and documenting activities of clients while at the facility; observing, collecting, and testing urine samples submitted by clients in accordance with Turning Point Healing Center's policy and procedure; and assisting with the self-administration of medication, as well as other duties listed in this job description and elsewhere.


Job Duties:


  • Provide supervision and support to clients at the treatment center.
  • Report on and monitor clients' behavior.
  • Offer clients guidance about recovery using practical recovery models (12Step, S.M.A.R.T. Recovery, etc.).
  • Conduct random urinalysis drug testing as outlined in Turning Point Healing Center's policy and procedure.
  • Maintain records of client activities, behavior, and information pertinent to each client's presence in treatment.
  • Contact the Program Manager and Clinical Director immediately for any significant client event.
  • Report any unusual client behavior or suspicious activity to the Program Manager and Clinical Director.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements.
  • Comply with all Turning Point Healing Centers policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to established standards of hygiene and universal infection control procedures in handling all samples and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility according to infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Job Specifications:


  • Understanding of and adherence to Behavioral Health Best Practices and Turning Point Healing Centers Code of Ethics.
  • Knowledge of relevant recoveryrelated literature and principles.
  • Understanding and Competency of hand washing and hygiene.
  • Ability to set priorities, maintain accurate medical records on each client in accordance with the master treatment plan goals and Turning Point Healing Centers policy and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients and coworkers in order to expedite treatment for each client.
  • Expectation to subscribe to the Turning Point Healing Centers philosophy of total abstinence for recovering addicts/alcoholics and substance abuse clients.
  • Ability to provide documentation and reports to clinical staff when required and necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Past or present consumer of mental health or substance abuse services with a history of managing one's own illness (for at least 6 months, continuously). Awareness of the importance of recovery in living with a mental illness or addictions problem. Experience working directly with people in a serviceoriented field is beneficial. Active membership in a consumer advocacy or selfhelp group.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years if age or older.
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check if required.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 36 per week
