MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


NY HELPS
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (
NY HELPS).


At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

NON-COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master's degree AND;

  • Four years of professional level administrative or educational experience in a college, university, education agency, or professional association; professional level administrative or educational experience in an agency or organization having oversight, regulatory, or coordinative responsibility for higher or professional education; or professional, administrative, or education experience in credentialing or discipline of professional licensed under Title 8 of the New York State Education Law; AND
  • Two years of this experience must have been related to the regulation of professionals licensed under Title 8 of the New York State Education Law in such areas as training, testing or supervising professionals; or to the development, review, evaluation or offering of professional education programs.
COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree AND;
  • Four years of professional level administrative or educational experience in a college, university, education agency, or professional association; professional level administrative or educational experience in an agency or organization having oversight, regulatory, or coordinative responsibility for higher or professional education; or professional, administrative, or education experience in credentialing or discipline of professional licensed under Title 8 of the New York State Education Law; AND
  • Two years of this experience must have been related to the regulation of professionals licensed under Title 8 of the New York State Education Law in such areas as training, testing or supervising professionals; or to the development, review, evaluation or offering of professional education programs.

Duties Description

  • Evaluate, develop and execute a strategic plan to strengthen the connections between P12 Education and the licensed professions;
  • Assist the Supervisor of Higher Education Programs in identifying and establishing communication mechanisms to allow students of varying ages to gain exposure to the variety of existing professions;
  • Represent the Board of Regents and NYSED by conducting outreach at schools, institutes of higher education, events, meetings, and conferences regarding pathways to careers in the professions;
  • Assist in developing linkages to existing resources and implementing approaches to integrate this information with schools and colleges;
  • Develop and distribute multimedia resources for schools and colleges;
  • Work with institutions of higher learning to gather and distribute information on the educational pathways available to students interested in pursuing careers in the licensed professions;
  • Respond to inquiries from schools, guidance counselors, colleges, professional associations, department staff and others;
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to strengthen the connections between accessible quality health care professionals and student achievement;
  • Assist in the oversight of office initiatives, including preparing budgetary materials and providing scheduling support for outreach efforts;
  • Assist in the Research and support efforts to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in the licensed professions and the patients/clients they serve; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This will be a permanent, competitive appointment or a permanent non-competitive appointment. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments.

In May 2024, if a temporary
NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $121,360 based on annual performance advances.
