Position Summary:


This position shares primary responsibility to make sure client's health insurance information is entered into the system correctly, bill third-party insurances, Medicare, Medi-Cal, post payments, work denials, complete reports and trouble-shoot billing issues.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the electronic health system is updated with any new client financial information, timely and accurately.
  • Ensure the thirdparty insurance information is accurate to submit electronic claims (e.g. private insurance, HMO, Medicare, LAC, etc.).
  • Adjudicate claims by posting payment or denied codes on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly activity and accounts receivable reports to forward to the Accounting Department (Medicare, Private Insurance, Client Payments).
  • Analyze trends and render adjustments as necessary.
  • Utilize and generate Exym reports to troubleshoot claims with problems.
  • Verify discrepancies and resolve billing issues.
  • Follow up and/or assist providers on returning notes, void claims or any other issues related to billing.
  • Complete Medicare benefit inquiries timely, when requested by the clinic or Call Center.
  • Work project reports as assigned and follow up with status timely.
  • Be available for phone consultation to financial departments at clinic(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as applicable.

Minimum Education and Experience Preferred:


  • One (1) year experience with billing Medicare, insurance and clients.
  • Experience with CPT codes and HCPCs codes.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal terminology and system.
  • Experience with filing, data entry, maintenance of A/R records, and word processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and above.

Licenses/Certifications:


  • Medical coding and billing certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and eligibility to drive for the Company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Medical coding and billing experience.
  • Ability to perform in a positive, courteous, flexible and adaptive manner.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, including, but not limited to, the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work so as to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Computer literate and experienced with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience using an electronic health record is a plus.
  • Must be able clearly to communicate, both orally and in writing.

Pay Range:
$ $25.00/Hour (Determined by Experience and Qualifications)


Physical Requirements:


  • See well enough (with or without corrected vision) to read fine print, handwritten materials, and a computer screen.
  • Speak and hear well enough (with or without assistive device) to converse in person and by telephone.
  • Finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms, including ability to use a computer keyboard.
  • Have the mobility (with or without assistive device) to stand, sit, crouch, and move from one work area to another.
  • Have the strength to lift, carry or push office equipment and supplies used in normal job functions up to 20 lbs.
  • Stamina to effectively perform work activities.
