- The majority of the positions are for elementary classrooms, but there may be opportunities at the middle and high school levels as well.
- Most openings are in self-contained classrooms, providing a supportive environment for students with diverse learning needs.
- Caseloads primarily consist of students with Developmentally Delayed (DD) or Intellectually Delayed (ID) profiles.
- This is a full school year position, offering stability and continuity for both you and your students.
- Onsite position: Due to the nature of the caseloads and the age groups served, we require teachers to be onsite to provide the best possible support and instruction.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities.
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning styles and levels of students in your classroom.
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families to ensure the success and well-being of your students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and resources to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods and interventions as needed to promote growth and development.
- Foster independence, self-advocacy, and social-emotional skills in your students to help them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
- Valid Alabama teaching certificate in Special Education (or eligible for certification).
- Previous experience working with students with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Strong understanding of best practices in special education instruction, including behavior management techniques, differentiated instruction, and assistive technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
