Production Operator





REPORTS TO:
Shift Supervisor / Crew Leader





DEPARTMENT:
Production


SUMMARY
The
Production Operator packages, inspects and transports PE and/or PVC pipe while in-process and finished stages. Uses work procedures, instruments, hand tools and quality standards to perform duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Properly use required PPE (safety glasses, earplugs, protective footwear, etc.);
  • Explain and demonstrate proper unit construction;
  • Explain and demonstrate unit blocks (product specification sheet);
  • Use calipers, dial gauges, OD Tape, plug gauges and other various measuring tools;
  • Identify major pipe flaws by vision and measuring tools;
  • Recognize proper lumber sizes (listed on product specification sheet);
  • Use banding equipment, staple/nail gun to unitize pipe;
  • Read and understand production Spec sheets;
  • Accurately record production numbers (unit counts, weights, scrap, etc) and quality checks on Production paperwork;
  • Safely operate forklift;
  • Conduct production lineaudits;
  • Maintain good housekeeping;
  • Perform other various jobduties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent;
Prefer - 3 years of experience operation forklift;
Prefer experience using various instruments (calipers, micrometers, OD tape);
Prefer - 3 years of experience in Production manufacturing environment.


COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic to Intermediate computer skills may be required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient English language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with vendors, contractors and employees of the organization.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in changing situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Employee must get help if over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside conditions, extreme cold and heat.

Employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles vibration and loud noise.


Pay:
$ $22.50 per hour
