    QUALIFICATIONS
    License/Certification: Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 1-8 with mathematics endorsement registered in Lake County
    Education: Required - Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Mathematics
    Experience - Required -  Successful teaching or student teaching experience in middle school mathematics, Spanish Speaking

    DESCRIPTION
    Provides interventions and support to students with the core academic program

    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State Standards
    2. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students
    3. Adheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff handbook
    4. Contributes and models a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program
    5. Orders materials and supplies as per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraints
    6. Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs
    7. Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and at the times assigned
    8. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property; keeps supplies in good working condition, is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment
    9. Collaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions
    10. Presents curriculum and uses a variety of assessment tools that support district and Common Core State Standards
    11. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
    12. Utilizes Response to Intervention (RtI) to assist in reviewing data, determining academic needs, setting appropriate goals and implementing interventions for students
    13. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, productive environment
    14. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers, administration and families to improve academic performance
    15. Works with classroom teachers to implement the philosophy of the adopted math curriculum and instructional materials
    16. Assists teachers in all components of the math curriculum
    17. Provides for staff development through regularly scheduled in-services including guidance in matters of scope and sequence
    18. Demonstrates and instructs math methods and strategies for teachers
    19. Demonstrates and instructs math materials for teachers and students including current technology
    20. Facilitates math articulation between grade levels
    21. Assists in evaluating the math program (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3)
    22. Works with classroom teachers to provide appropriate methods of differentiated instruction
    23. Maintains a math materials inventory and assist Teaching and Learning Department in ordering math materials, within budgetary constraints
    24. Assists in interpreting the test scores and in diagnosing individual student problems 25. Assists substitute teachers so the math program is continuous
    26. Coordinates on-site, research-based math workshops
    27. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with other math specialists
    28. Participates in Problem Solving / Intervention Team meetings on an as needed basis
    29. Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and grades
    30. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress
    31. Gathers and maintains up-to-date records of student grades and assessment data to assist in the placement of students
    32. Administers state and local standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and area of need
    33. Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development
    34. Keeps up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and makes relevant changes to instructional plans and activities to meet the needs of all students
    35. Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality
    36 Perform other such duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal or Director of Teaching and Learning

    • Planning and Preparation � Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources.  Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students learning.

    • Instruction � Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
    • Professional Responsibility � Reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism.

    Technical:     Competent in digital environments; Chromebooks, databases, spreadsheets, publishing software, Microsoft Office, Google applications etc.
     
    Interpersonal:  Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses and community.  Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.  Empathetic, humanistic and open-minded. Strong sense of teamwork.   Strategic thinker.  Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc.  Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.  Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people.  Must have strong organizational skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
     
    Manual Dexterity:   Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.
    Physical Effort:  Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.
    Working Conditions:  Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist.  

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  June 8, July 2, 2026;  Monday thru Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  
     
    SALARY RANGE:  Minimum of $48.96 per hour. (Current D50 employees in this position will be paid their current rate of pay.)
