- Data fields include but are not limited to address, employment,insurance info, nearest relative, guarantor, insurance plan,admitting diagnosis, working diagnosis, and physicianinformation.
- Prioritizes and completesscheduling in a consistent, courteous, professional, accurate, andtimely manner.
- Review the schedule to ensureaccuracy.
- Ensures each patient is assignedonly one medical record number.
- Select theappropriate patient type based on the department and servicesrequired.
- Documents in accountnotes.
- Ensures orders are received and areconsistent with tests/procedures.
- Confirmsschedule with each physician daily; confirms a nullschedule.
- Effectively meetscustomer needs, builds productive customer relationships, and takesresponsibility for customer satisfaction andloyalty.
- Greets patients courteously andprofessionally.
- Calls patients byname.
- Ask patients if they may have specialneeds.
- Represents the Surgery department in aprofessional, courteous manner at ALL times.
- Works with other departments to resolve Scheduling issues in atimely and professional manner.
- Makes minimal errors in performingscheduling/insurance verification See Error Policy and Procedurefor target error rate percentage.
- Utilizeseducation information to reduce error rates.
- Requests additional education information whennecessary.
- Demonstrates ability to selectcorrect insurance plans.
- Provides focusededucation for staff as needed.
- Coordinate newhire training (if needed)
- Assure HealthStreameducation is completed timely.
- Attends themajority of Direct Connects
- Required to assist thehospital in the event of an internal or externaldisaster.
- Supports the flexible needs of thedepartment to accommodate patient volume in all areas of thehospital. This may require assignment to another area of thedepartment, and shift change.
- Supports thedepartment in achieving established performancetargets.
- Completes required training asneeded.
- Performs all other duties asassigned.
- High School diploma or equivalentrequired.
- Associate degree preferred withemphasis in Health/business-related field.
- 6months of scheduling experience preferred.
