Position Overview


The Tool Maker is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, disassembling, repairing, and modifying tool sets for Cold Heading and Thread Rolling.


Main Responsibilities

  • Read and understand tool component and assembly blueprints.
  • Manufacture cold heading tooling carbide, tool steel inserts using reamer grinders, manual and automatic lathes, hydraulic presses.
  • Service tooling polish, grind, hone
  • Measure tooling using high precision gages, lead checks, optical comparators.
  • Assist production operators with troubleshooting and tool life issues.

  • Assist with special gage and fitting manufacturing processes.
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance and necessary repairs on tools and equipment.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and forms related to tooling service.
  • Maintain safe work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years relevant experience required cold heading tool making.
  • Ability to read, understand and maintain records as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand up to 810 hours /day.
