Role Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Avery Weigh-Tronix, you will be tasked with overseeing mechanical design, prototype development, testing, and engineering documentation for various projects. Your responsibilities include ensuring design accuracy, technical compliance, and proper documentation in alignment with relevant codes and regulations. Collaboration with project team members is essential to gather inputs across different disciplines to achieve project success.

Develop and execute mechanical designs adhering to established AWTX processes and best engineering practices.
Thoroughly document designs and modifications using sound engineering analysis methods acquired through a Mechanical Engineering background.
Offer engineering support to production, sales, distribution, and customers for both standard and custom products.
Support the Special Products Group with engineering analysis when needed.
Enhance standard product lines based on market demand.
Initiate Engineering Change Orders for product improvements or updates.
Define and conduct product reliability tests to ensure design robustness and safety.
Prepare detailed test reports and procurement specifications for clarity.
Drive the mechanical design process from concept clearance to manufacturing release, ensuring technical accuracy and excellence.
Effectively coordinate tasks and priorities for interdisciplinary teams involved in project delivery.

Qualifications

Educational Background and Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
At least 3 years of engineering experience

Additional Requirements

Proficiency in 3D CAD software
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with AutoDesk Inventor and ANSYS
Prior work experience in a manufacturing setting

Other Considerations

This role may involve occasional domestic travel, up to 3 weeks per year.
International travel may be required infrequently.
