Class Summary

  • The Science Department is seeking an Engineering faculty member who will be responsible for providing instruction within the Engineering and allied programs as qualified. The faculty member may teach both transfer and workforce courses and will serve as program coordinator for the Engineering Program. In addition to providing quality instruction, the faculty member will develop and revise curriculum and course work, including serving a critical role in the design and development of an Engineering Technology award. The faculty member will be responsible for providing scheduled office hours for student consultation, serving on College committees as needed and assigned, recruiting Engineering students, building partnerships with local industry and school districts, and participating in student orientated instructional and advisement activities as needed and assigned.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience

  • Master's degree and 18 graduate hours of coursework in Engineering or related field, two years of teaching and/or curriculum development experience at the postsecondary level, and minimum 3 years nonteaching work experience in the field.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Engineering or related area, two years of teaching and/or curriculum development experience at a community or twoyear college, and minimum 3 years nonteaching work experience in the field.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to effectively teach transfer and/or workforce engineering courses and applied physics courses.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrable history of Engineering instruction and course and curricula development; experience teaching in a 2year college environment.

Job Duties

  • Prepare, develop, revise curriculum and course work.
Serve as coordinator for the Engineering Program.
Meet classes as scheduled.
Complete paperwork/tests and issue student grades as scheduled.
Maintain office hours for student consultation.

This position will report to the Science and Engineering Department Chair and is responsible for performing tasks and assignments given by the department chair and/or dean.

Serve on committees as needed and assigned.
Other duties as appropriate to the position.

Sedentary Work:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
