About the Position

  • Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a
    P&C Underwriter to join our Glatfelter VFIS Underwriting team. Our new associate will be responsible for underwriting and managing a book of business within an assigned territory. Working within a specific underwriting authority, the Underwriter independently qualifies and prices new and renewal business consistent with program underwriting guidelines and pricing directives. The Underwriter is also responsible for servicing accounts in accordance with GUS service standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 years progressive underwriting experience within the commercial P&C insurance industry; or, a minimum of 3 years progressive customer service and/or agency management experience within the insurance industry
  • Must have and maintain or attain within three (3) months a current propertycasualty license.
  • Proven underwriting and/or agency management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills including formal and informal presentation skills
  • Ability to underwrite moderately sophisticated accounts, including knowledge of Commercial Property, General Liability, Automobile, Excess, Management Liability and Crime forms, pricing, rating methodology and valuation tools.
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Ability to gather, report and act on appropriate market information and trends
  • Strong communication skills; able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Organized skills and ability to handle tasks on a priority basis required to maintain consistent high quality and to meet shortand longterm program objectives.

Education

  • B.A. degree in insurance, business or related field preferred and/or professional insurance coursework
  • Coursework towards an insurance designation preferred.
