    Purpose of Announcement EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

    This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.

    Kind of Work Under the supervision of the EIS (IT) Director, this classification involves providing leadership and strategic direction to ensure the goals of the Electronic Information Systems Department are aligned with Information Technology best practices and support the overall goals of the Parish.

    An employee in this position manages the technical operations and assists in administrative tasks in directing the Parish's EIS Department; plans, organizes, and coordinates various activities of IT; under direction of the EIS Director, oversees the department and supervises assigned staff, projects, and equipment.

    Work is complex and of unusual difficulty and includes responsibility for the Parish's networks, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, GIS, disaster recovery/business continuity, data centers, telecommunications, IT support, software development, and for developing department staff and resource requirements.

    This position also provides leadership and vision for technology initiatives and handling related office, administrative, and personnel matters.

    This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.

    Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

    Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination Current employment and permanent civil service status with Jefferson Parish and current experience in the Department of Electronic Information Systems in a technical position with responsibility for supervising other technical positions.

    Kind of Examination (PROMOTIONAL AND LIMITED ENTRANCE*)*Employees of equal or higher job classifications who meet the above qualification requirements may apply, but will be placed on an entrance eligibility list if they qualify.

    The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.

    Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing.

    RetirementMost regular employees belong to the Parochial Employees' RetirementSystem instead of the Social Security System.

    For employees hired afterJanuary 01, 2007, a pension calculated at 3% of salary per year of serviceis provided upon retirement at age 67 with 7 years of service, age 62 with10 years of service, or age 55 with 30 years of service.

    Tenure PaymentEmployees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year.
    Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid.

    Deferred Compensation Plan(457b plan)Similar to 401K programs, the 457b Deferred Plan allows employees to deferup to $14,000 of pretax income each year to supplement retirement savings.

    Pre-tax contributions can be cashed in upon retirement or termination withoutpenalty.

    This plan is provided by Nationwide Retirement Solutions Special leaves of absence for military service, maternity leave, be granted in accordance with the Personnel Rules.01 The supplemental questions are a very important first step in our screening process.
