Department Description

  • The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 nonphysician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) years' Nurse Practitioner experience with an adult inpatient patient population
  • Triage skills
  • Skilled in performing complex physical assessment
  • Requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent, related oncology experience in adult population
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in oncology care, including chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, patient education, and care coordination

License/Certification

  • California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
  • Accepted Certifications for this position: AGNP-C or A-GNPC, FNP-C, GNP-C, ACNPCN-AG, ACNPC, AFACNP;
  • Hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS
  • Current AHA ACLS
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
  • Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed.

In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.

Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
