Job Summary:


A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) art teacher provides an arts program based on the National Core Arts Standards for regular and special education students which is appropriate to their needs and developmental level.

The art teacher provides creative opportunities for all students in a variety of mediums.

The MPS art teacher works collaboratively with school staff in order to integrate core curricular areas into the arts experience.

In addition, they work with various community arts partners in order to provide additional high-quality arts programming for students.

The arts program is offered in an equitable, multi-cultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically and creatively.

The teacher's work supports the MPS strategic plan.

Qualifications:

As of November 1, 2021, all MPS employees are required to be fully vaccinated. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.

Applicants must be licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to teach this specific grade level and / or content area


Eligible applicants include:

  • Internal and external fully licensed teachers, counselors, or librarians
  • Student or permit teachers, practicum students, and interns who will be fully licensed by August
  • Permit or intern teachers in need of another 1year license with stipulations for
  • Bachelor degreed individuals pursuing a teaching/counseling/librarian position and licensure

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule:


The teacher salary range starts at $49,836 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching experience.
