Job Summary:

The Data Specialist will be required to fully understand the MEL(Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Protocol) measures, identify inconsistencies in data, assist team members who are measuring and recording participant progress with respect to critical success indicators, assess & analyze data, and similar advanced duties.


Reports directly to the Senior Vice President and facilitates execution of the Senior Vice President's instructions with respect to entering data into the organizations system or funders required system.

This requires knowledge of the Brotherhood Crusade's evaluative efforts which are guided by MEL and characterized by one of our core principles:
"those who choose to lead, should never cease to learn".


You will assist in collecting pertinent data and working with the YouthSource Center staff for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual audits.

The Data Specialist will be responsible for transferring data from one source to another through data entry equipment, word processing, or verbal recordings.

The ability to accurately type and at a fast speed is highly desired.

Responsibilities:


  • Entering data into appropriate fields; databases, records, and files
  • Transferring data from paper formats via computer, recorders, or scanners
  • Handling numerical data accurately; creating spreadsheets
  • Organizing spreadsheets with large numbers
  • Curating data directly from speech or interviews with youth, families or staff
  • Updating databases or records with new information as it becomes available
  • Correcting and modifying inaccurate files and records
  • Typing data directly and accurately
  • Complying with security backups and regular checks to ensure data is saved and stored properly
  • Summarizing data for standardized reports
  • Viewing and verifying confidential or private customer/client information; protecting the information and identities of customers/client
  • Verifying data by correctly checking and comparing source documentation
  • Organizing paper formats, paper backups, and material source files as needed
Data Specialist Requirements and Qualifications

  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize
  • Skilled knowledge in generating process documentation
  • Assists YSC team members when needed to accomplish team goals
  • Fast and accurate typist
  • Understands data confidentiality principles and follows them to the letter
  • Associate's degree, or bachelor degree in business, administration or related field not required but preferred
  • Prior experience handling data entry responsibilities or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Highly organized multitasker who works well in a fastpaced environment
  • Willingness to learn and to grow with the organization
  • Selfdirected and able to work without supervision
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly of Excel spreadsheets
  • Pays strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of touchtyping system preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, projectors, scanners, copiers, facsimile machines, calculators, etc.
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree
  • Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants
  • Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English
  • Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide
