Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Placement and Rehabilitation Counseling Assistant.


Responsibilities:


  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Establishes a rapport with the patient and explains the role of vocational rehabilitation services. Develops a supportive relationship with the patient. Demonstrates sensitivity to changes in patient status and modifies treatment approach accordingly. Takes initiative in identifying problems and developing intervention strategies.
  • Implements and coordinates clients training program. Orients work site supervisors to the goals of the work readiness training program and the responsibilities of hosting a program trainee or intern. Develops and maintains contacts with Medical Center departments and external organizations for placement of program participants at appropriate training sites. Develops new training/internship sites to meet patient needs.
  • Provides onsite support and job coaching as needed. Uses professional judgment and creativity in presenting innovative solutions and coaching strategies to resolve problems. Initiates appropriate referrals for support services and maintains timely contact with other treating clinicians and/or referring counselor regarding patient's progress. Provides effective job placement and followup services. Presents clients to the Business Advisory Committee.
  • Provides job preparation skills training in group and individual sessions. Provides client with supports for employment preparation and onsite work experences including resume reviews, teaches interview strategies and successful work habits and behaviors on the job. Provides postplacement followup with client and employer.
  • Documents all services and completes all program reports using clear, concise narrative following prescribed protocol and within established timeframes. Insures case notes reflect patient status and progress toward goals. Enters all reports and progress notes in Epic.
  • Completes monthly statistics according to departmental time and procedural guidelines. Documents external travel notification in an appropriate form in timely manner.
  • Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to manage assigned patient population.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Associate degree in human services, psychology or related field, with one years experience working with people with disabilities.

Word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and Internet computer skills. Excellent communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in rehabilitation or related field preferred. Two years experience providing direct job placement services to individuals with disabilities.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $51, $56,975.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
