Description

Summary

The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist offers clinical and administrative assistance to staff, patients, and administrators regarding the management of medical equipment facility-wide. This role involves applying engineering and mechanical concepts to support diagnostic, therapeutic devices, and monitoring for enhanced clinical care.

Duties

Lifecycle management of various medical systems including imaging, life support, dialysis, and monitoring, encompassing physical and network support.
Collaborating effectively with other facility support departments such as Facilities Management Service (FMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT), Patient Safety, Sterile Processing Service (SPS), Logistics, Contracting, Informatics, and Environmental Management Service (EMS).
Using a variety of test equipment and maintaining knowledge of safety codes and standards set by regulatory bodies.
Documenting all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) in compliance with regulations and VA requirements.
Applying networking principles to troubleshoot medical system communication issues and adhering to VA Medical Device Cyber Security policies.
Acting as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and utilizing government contract procedures.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
