Job Summary and Qualifications

:


Basic Function:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Physician, this position is responsible to assist during the invasive procedure, provide designated patient care functions, assist in the turn-over of the procedures, and assist/perform the cleaning of the required instruments.


SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist the physician and/or the RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes by team collaboration

Assist the RN with proper positioning of patients

Collaborate with other health care professionals

Act as a resource, and serve as a mentor for others

Participates in continuining education and achieving/maintaining certification

Inspects all scopes and equipment at all stages of handling, including leak testing

:

Understands guidelines for the processing of contaminated equipment, and infection control modalities

:

Manually cleans all immersible parts of the endoscopes and equipment prior to processing

:

-
Demonstrates proper attachment and handling of scopes and equipment prior to processing in designated machines

:

-
Responsible for turn-over of procedure rooms in a timely/efficient manner

:

-
Demonstrates proper use of PPE

:

-
Identifies location of MSDS information and all products used

:

-
Provides daily cleaning of the Endoscopy Suites including the appropriate handling of all trash, regulated medical waste, and soiled linens within the department

:

-
Helps gather and connect necessary equipment - video monitors, scopes etc. - for the scheduled procedure

:

-
Demonstrates ability to trouble shoot equipment as needed

:

-
Receive and store supplies and equipment

:

-
Responsible for data entry including, but not limited to, pH probe, surgical profile, administrative data, pathology, and monthly QA reports

:

Works as an effective member of the Endoscopy Team. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, physicians, director, clinical coordinator and external and internal customers
