JOB DESCRIPTION
The Minor League Physical Performance Coach plays a critical role in optimizing player availability, durability, and performance in one of the most demanding environments in professional sports—high altitude baseball. This position is responsible for delivering and evolving the Colorado Rockies' Physical Performance program at the Major League level, with a strong emphasis on strength & conditioning, recovery, nutrition, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
In addition to hands-on coaching, this role serves as a leader within the broader performance ecosystem, providing guidance to Minor League performance staff. The ideal candidate is a high-energy, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment and is passionate about helping athletes perform at their best, day in and day out.
This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ, during Spring Training and Hartford, CT, during the regular season, with travel required throughout the season.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and lead individualized and group-based strength and power training sessions aligned with player needs, workload, and game demands.
- Monitor and adjust training programs to account for altitude, travel, recovery, and seasonal fatigue.
- Educate players on training intent, recovery strategies, sleep habits, and long-term performance sustainability.
- Communicate regularly with players during the off-season regarding training plans, nutrition strategies, and recovery expectations.
Nutrition Leadership & Vendor Partnership
- Serve as a leader of the Minor League nutrition program, ensuring alignment between performance goals, player needs, and fueling strategies.
- Provide education and accountability around nutritional best practices, hydration, supplementation (in compliance with MLB policy), and altitude-specific fueling considerations.
Collaboration & Sports Medicine Integration
- Work collaboratively with the Minor League Manager, Coaches, Athletic Trainers, and Medical Staff to support player readiness and availability.
- Assist Athletic Trainers with rehabilitation and return-to-play programming as appropriate.
- Participate as a strong contributor in in-season and off-season planning meetings.
- Assist with performance testing protocols and data collection in collaboration with Minor League Staff and the Minor League Coordinator.
Leadership & Program Development
- Lead, mentor, and support Minor League strength and conditioning staff, helping ensure organizational alignment and professional development.
- Demonstrate full proficiency in the Colorado Rockies' performance software systems, including data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Understand, communicate, and strictly enforce MiLB policies related to supplements and performance practices.
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and professional standards of the Training Center.
