    Description

    Summary

    This position is part of the United States Park Police Field Operations Division, responsible for ensuring effective telecommunications to the Force, law enforcement agencies, operational personnel, and the public by answering 911 and non-emergency calls. The job entails providing full Law Enforcement communications services.

    Duties

    • Serving as a dispatcher for the US Park Police, utilizing knowledge of dispatch operating systems, databases, and equipment to solve technical problems.
    • Performing dispatch and call taking services for various public safety incidents.
    • Coordinating rescue, ambulance, and helicopter operations of different agencies.
    • Receiving and evaluating emergency calls for service.
    • Providing dispatch support to law enforcement activities.
    • Relaying information for law enforcement investigations and contacts.
    • Monitoring alarm systems and ensuring appropriate responses.
    • Assisting law enforcement officers with investigations.

    Pay Information:
    Salary varies based on locality:
    Washington, DC:
    - GS-6 range: $50,326 to $65,425 per year
    - GS-7 range: $55,924 to $72,703 per year
    - GS-8 range: $61,933 to $80,510 per year
    San Francisco, CA:
    - GS-6 range: $54,914 to $71,390 per year
    - GS-7 range: $61,023 to $79,331 per year
    - GS-8 range: $67,579 to $87,851 per year
    New York, NY:
    - GS-6 range: $51,829 to $67,379 per year
    - GS-7 range: $57,594 to $74,874 per year
    - GS-8 range: $63,782 to $82,915 per year

    Requirements

    • U.S. Citizenship required.
    • Appointment subject to background investigation.
    • Participation in Direct Deposit EFT Program required.
    • Drug test and uniform compliance mandatory.
    • Oncall, evening, weekend, holiday, and shift work possible.

    Qualifications

    All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Credit given for all relevant experience. To qualify for this position:

    • GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience; customer service, quick decision-making, and data input.
    • GS-07: 1 year of specialized experience; customer service, data input, public safety dispatch systems operation.
    • GS-08: 1 year of specialized experience; public safety dispatching, data input, emergency situation management.

    Volunteer Experience: Valued and provides credit for applicable experience.

    Education

    No education substitution at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
