    Sales Manager Eastern Region (Conduit Pressure Pipe Products) Job Description

    BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
    • The purpose of this position is to market and sell WL Plastics (WL) Pressure pipe products within a specified territory (geographic and/or market segment) to WL distributors and in some instances direct to end use customers.
    • The Sales Manager will perform a variety of tasks including generation of customer quotes, development and execution of customer strategy and account plan, acceptance of Purchase Orders (Pos), collection of invoices, gathering of market research and intelligence, territory management and customer interaction, support of NGD Market Manager, support of Power & Communications sales and trade conference attendance.
    • The Sales Manager reports to the Regional VP of Sales.
    RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
    • Generation of accurate and timely quotes
      1. Use WL's standard quote tools and forms for all customer quotes.
      2. Provide accurate pricing and availability of WL products upon customer request FOB WL Plant or project destination based on customer classification and strategy within guidelines.
      3. Value sells customers to increase run sizes (economies of scale) for WL and providing additional margin via freight savings for customers.
      4. Obtain approval or exceptions to a customer specification as needed from WL's Engineer to ensure WL's quote complies or provides exceptions.
      5. Coordinate quotes outside of their defined territory with the responsible territory Sales Manager.
      6. Complete standard quotes within 2-3 hours during the business day following a customer request for quotation (RFQ). Exceptions include travel, customer meetings, vacation, etc. whereby they should coordinate with customer service to complete quotes in a timely fashion or contact the customer as soon as possible to complete the quote (within 24 hours maximum).
      7. Complete customer RFQ that require review of the specification should be completed in a timely fashion with a goal of 24 hours from reception of RFQ.
      8. Review of quotes with customers as needed to obtain feedback on pricing, availability, validity, and status of the quote. Status includes but is not limited to the following: PO received by WL, lost to competition, delayed, and cancelled.
      9. Revision of original quotes due to change in the RFQ, expiration of validity period, need for immediate price or availability change, etc.
    • Development and execution of customer strategy and account plan:
      1. Reviewing order confirmations, production scheduling and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy.
      2. Coordinate with WL Customer Service throughout the sales process.
      3. Determine customer classification through interaction and discussion with the Regional VP of Sales.
      4. Network and build relationships with key decision makers.
      5. Understand customer's market and how WL's pipe products deliver value.
      6. Make regular sales calls to main customer office and branches as needed.
      7. Coordinate with accounting department to ensure on-time payment of WL invoices. Complete the sale.
    • Product Knowledge
      1. Understand WL's production process, its limitations, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
      2. Understand applications and appropriate use of WL's pipe products.
      3. Work with Regional VP of Sales and engineers to address technical questions.
      4. Understand WL literature.
      5. Communicate opportunities for WL pipe products to enter new applications, new territories, or opportunities for WL to profitably expand product offerings to WL Management.
    • Market Knowledge
      1. Develop and maintain an understanding of the distributors and major. contractors/end users in territory.
      2. Develop knowledge of markets in your territory.
      3. Develop understanding of competition in your territory.
      4. Develop knowledge of the complete sales process from order entry to feedback.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • 10+ years relevant job experience required in a Sales or relevant bachelor's degree preferred with 5+ years' experience required in Sales, preferred.
    • Must be open to relocation to our corporate offices or other company locations.
    • Must be a U.S citizen or a non-U.S. citizen having legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practical training.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Proven proficiency in computer-based skills, especially Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with SAP preferred.
    • Proven leadership, persuasiveness, initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Must have ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with customers and employees at all levels.
    • Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and possess organizational skills.
    • Ability to drive process improvement and be an agent for change.
    • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders.
    • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours per day.
    • Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses and steel-toe footwear that meets ASTM F standards.
    • The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze information, and remember and understand all instructions and guidelines.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use their hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Travel is required 50% -75%. Travel to other cities, customer locations, job sites, and manufacturing facilities may be necessary for audits, training, or sales purposes.
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Ability to travel by airplane as needed.
    • Must hold a valid passport for international travel.
