    Research Associate

    About the Company

    Our Client is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization centered around bridging genomic research with medical advancements that lead to developing earlier diagnostics and smarter treatment plans that directly impact individuals, their families and their communities. Precision medicine research is a relatively new field employing innovative advances arising from the Human Genome Project and our client is applying them to the development of patient-specific diagnostics and treatments for cancer, neurological disorders, rare childhood disorders, infectious diseases, and other complex conditions.

    Job Description:

    Our client is developing a technical protocol that is planned to become a foundational method in their precision medicine program. They are looking for an extra member of the team who can carry out experiments using molecular cloning techniques to keep the project on track. This opportunity will provide the candidate with exposure to cutting-edge technology development in a rapidly growing area of cancer research. This project has the potential to positively impact the health outcomes of future cancer patients. This is a contract position with an end date of October. All candidates will be paid on an hourly basis and will work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

    Requirements:

    • Skills in cloning techniques (Restriction enzyme digestion, ligation, transformation and plasmid purification), cultivating and maintaining bacterial cells, including sterile technique.
    • Ability to perform PCR reactions and ampure bead-based DNA clean-up
    • Ability to Isolate DNA from various sources, mini-prep experience required.
    • Understanding of quality control methods including qPCR, Tapestation and Qubit
    • Knowledge of standard laboratory safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.
    • Understanding of DNA Library prep and sequencing methods.

    Contract Rate:

    • $25-30/hour
