The Opportunity


CZ Biohub NY is looking to recruit an outstanding scientist for the position of
Group Leader (equivalent to a Principal Investigator within the CZ Biohub Network) to lead our
Tissue Resident Immune Cell Biology research group.


As a Group Leader, you will spearhead, oversee, and actively engage with a generously funded research team dedicated to pioneering influential scientific investigations in the biology of tissue resident immune cells.

Your focus will closely align with the Biohub's mission to unravel the intricacies of immune cell mechanisms and harness their functionalities to identify specific mechanisms allowing detection and reporting of abnormal non-pathogen-dependent tissue homeostasis.

The ultimate goal is to pioneer new technologies and bioengineer immune cells, paving the way for actionable diagnostics and effective therapies in pathologies ranging from cancer to neurodegenerative syndromes to fibrosis and others.


What You'll Do

  • Lead and actively participate in an innovative, vigorous, and collaborative research program aligned with the mission of CZ Biohub NY with the goal of advancing the state of the art in understanding and modulating the biology of tissue resident immune cells, resulting in compelling record of scientific publication
  • Play a collaborative role in our collective efforts to elucidate critical immune cell mechanisms governing tissue residency and detection of aberrant cell states, with the aim of detecting and preventing diseased states
  • Develop a transformative research vision and providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members
  • Engage with colleagues throughout the Biohub to uphold our values of scholarly excellence, innovation, open communication, handson collaboration, partnership, and opportunity
  • Communicate progress and results with colleagues and the leadership team
  • Publish and disseminate impactful findings and the products of your research as preprints (medRxiv, bioRxiv) and/or software repositories (e.g., GitHub)
  • Collaborate with the CZ Biohub team to patent and license technologies resulting from your research

What You'll Bring
Essential

  • PhD or MD with relevant research experience
  • A minimum of 5 years postdoctoral experience focused on the biology of tissue resident immune cells
  • Demonstrated publication track record in top tier journals on topics related to the scientific goals of this position
  • Demonstrated leadership, track record of innovation, and ability to work collaboratively
  • Demonstrating a creative vision to establish a highly innovative and impactful research program
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to open science and highly aligned with the mission and values of CZ Biohub values

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network
requires all employees, contractors, and interns, regardless of work location or type of role, to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster vaccine dose, if eligible, by their start date.
