REPORTS TO:
Building Principal/Building Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in managing the school health services program under the direction of the Nurse and Principal and in compliance with school district health policies, procedures, and protocols Strengthens and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students The focus of school nursing services is the prevention of illnesses, early detection and intervention of health problems.

Collaborate with School Nurse regarding medical needs, care plans, medication plans and communication with parents and medical specialists. Provide other nursing care as determined by School Nurse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide school health services to studentsMaintain health records including daily health visitsDocument mandated school screenings and immunization complianceCoordinated school health activities and health educationServe as a liaison between school, home and community regarding health issuesCommunicate with families regarding school attendanceDeployed to Union 61 elementary schools to serve as substitute nurse on occasion if neededOther duties as assigned by the building principal and building nurse

QUALIFICATIONS:
MA License as a RNCurrent Massachusetts certification in CPR, AED and First AidApproved CORI and Fingerprinting results
