JOB DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, to perform skilled duties in the operation of a variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment, to perform heavy physical labor and a variety of manual tasks in the construction and maintenance area; and to do related work as required.
All construction personnel are required to provide a minimum of one week emergency stand-by service, and overtime as may be assigned.

Construction Crew Foreman
DISTINGUISHED FROM LOWER RANGE POSITION(S):
Duties assigned to the Equipment Operator position are the same as those of a Water Service Worker I and Water Service Worker II.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
In addition to performing the duties of a Water Service Worker I and II, the
Equipment Operator:
operates diesel and/or gasoline powered earthmoving and trenching equipment such as tractors, loaders, backhoes, excavators, dozers and trucks; uses and changes equipment attachments to perform excavating, earth moving, loading, leveling, and backfilling assignments; excavates sewer and water lines for repairs and backfills excavation work; cleans, maintains, and makes minor repairs to assigned equipment; performs heavy and semi-skilled maintenance, construction, and labor work in the same fashion as the Water Service Worker I and II when the nature of the job does not require constant equipment operation.
