UNCLASSIFIED POSITION IN THE FULTON COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT

THIS RECRUITMENT WILL ALSO BE USED TO FILL GRANT FUNDED, TEMPORARY, AND PART-TIME POSITIONS

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Specific License or Certification Must possess and maintain a State of Georgia Driver's License.


Necessary Special Requirements:


  • Must be of good moral character as determined by policy and procedures established by the Fulton County Police Department
  • Participate in an oral interview with the hiring authority or his/her designee to evaluate the applicant's appearance, background and ability to communicate
  • Must be at least twenty (20) years of age
  • All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Police Department
  • All applicants will be required to submit to a drug test as part of the employment process

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to perform a variety of defined duties related to maintaining a safe and secure environment for County employees and visitors, protecting County property against fire, theft, and illegal entry.

There are specific duties the incumbent with assignment will perform at various assigned work location(s).


Essential Functions:


  • The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned._

Maintains safeguard of County facilities:

controls access/exit to buildings and parking lots; operates X-ray machines and metal detectors; patrols premises of facility; checks visitors for proper identification and security clearance; monitors private entry corridors and hallways; performs roving security rounds in designated areas; records approved deliveries; performs routine operational check of fire extinguishers and AED units; performs housekeeping duties as assigned.


Maintains files, records and inventory:

completes required paperwork related to duties; maintains record of file access; stores and purges records according to County policies and procedures; updates drug screen data base; orders supplies; maintains shipping and receiving records.

Provides customer service to County employees, visitors and other government agencies: gives directions; answers phone inquiries and/or forwards call to appropriate area; oversees item check-in and lost and found system; refers mentally unstable or individuals in crisis to appropriate resources;
By job assignment, may perform jail security and provides jail assistance: issues and inventories supplies; performs laundering of bedding and uniforms, assists with fitting and ordering uniforms, receives, records, reads, sorts and distributes mail, answers phone calls, prepares correspondence; monitors floor activities of staff and inmates, provides welfare calls to officers; records daily staff count, hours and incident reports; documents entrance and exit of inmates from floor; maintains key log book, maintains inventory of radios; inspects cells for cleanliness; ensures accurate booking records by composing and modifying as needed; retrieves files as needed for court appearance and public defender; inputs data related to sentencing, release and time served; receives, archives and retrieves all legal documents and files; responds to requests for information from both inside and outside the department; monitors visitations and medicine administration; interfaces with Social Security Administration; provides security for inmate confined at hospital by overseeing staff, inmate and visitors;

Monitors security and safety systems:
monitors elevators, phone system, courtroom system, I.C.

telephone system, computer, fire safety system, all CCTV monitors; responds to all alarm activations and other emergencies and takes appropriate action in a timely manner.


May supervise fleet and equipment maintenance: perform routine maintenance checks and cleans departmental vehicles; checks vehicles in and out of parking lot; records key use; schedules and records all service completed; ensure vehicles and equipment are ready for assignment.


May supervises community service:
assigns duties for community service workers.
