The Diabetes, Obesity and Complications Therapeutic Area (DOCTA) of Eli Lilly and Company, focuses on the discovery of biologic, small molecule, and genetic therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and associated complications.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Plan and independently carry out in vitro experiments to evaluate targets/pathways, proof of concepts and mechanism of action in obesity/diabetes and its associated complications.
  • Build out robust cellular models, using human or mammalian, immortalized, primary or induced pluripotent stem cell lines.
  • Perform molecular and biochemical assessments (including qPCR, ELISA, Western blot but not limited to) on in vitro and ex vivo samples in collaboration with colleagues in other departments.
  • Function independently, work within a teamoriented lab environment, and work within crossfunctional project teams.
  • Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified.

Minimum qualifications:


  • B.S. and/or M.S. in biology or a closely related field with 2+ years of laboratory experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:


  • Extensive experience working with human or mammalian cell culture.
  • Proven ability in developing cellular models.
  • Background in cellular and molecular biology of skeletal and/or cardiac muscle is a huge plus.
  • Prior work with 3D organoids / engineered tissue models and/or coculture system would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on crossfunctional teams and projects.
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting data in a team environment.
