    The

    City of Seattle's Municipal Court's (SMC)


    mission is to provide a forum for people to resolve alleged violations of the law in a respectful, independent, and impartial manner.

    The Court is dedicated to advancing social justice issues by supporting personal, structural, and systemic change in our community, and building a diverse workforce.

    SMC
    is seeking qualified candidates for a

    HR Strategic Advisor , to join a dynamic HR department and help

    support HR strategies, and solutions to support employees, division executives and Court goals.
    The

    HR Strategic Advisor


    role involves overseeing Employee and Labor Relations for the Court, offering expert guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, employee engagement, and disciplinary investigations.

    This position plays a crucial role in maintaining positive employee relations and ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.

    The advisor will collaborate with management to resolve complex employee issues and implement strategies to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.

    They will also be responsible for conducting thorough and fair disciplinary investigations when necessary.

    This position will report directly to the HR Manager and will be a collaborative partner in building, recommending, aligning overall workplace initiatives, policies, programs, and expectations within the Court.

    Researching, investigation and analyzing information, defining problems or objectives, formulating logical and objective conclusions, recognize alternatives and making effective recommendation having intra and interagency impacts.

    Evaluating HR matrix data to identify and recommend performance efficiencies and ensure program compliance requirements.
    Developing and implementing policy and procedure programs to improve job performance and company culture.

    Providing consultation and direction on complex HR issues to diverse audiences by engaging in courageous conversations with individuals at all levels of the organization, to respectfully challenge ideas, systems, and processes.

    Moving seamlessly from strategy to tactics and effectively create and execute an implementation plan.
    Skilled


    in:
    Relationship building to quickly establish strong, trusted partnerships within and outside an organization.

    Excellent influencing and collaboration skills to work across the organization to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitments to act in support of ideas and programs.

    Public speaking, facilitation, and written communication skills for all levels and groups.

    Provide employee and labor relations consultative services.

    Support HR Team, management and staff in the interpretation and compliance with labor contractual agreements. Participate in grievance proceedings and investigation.

    Offer expert guidance and consultation on various aspects of employee and labor relations, such as employee engagement, recognition, training, performance management, misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

    Provide strategic advice on best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees while aligning with legal requirements and organizational goals.

    Provide effective HR services.

    Management workforce planning and development efforts. Provide HR strategies and advise department leadership regarding staffing and organizational needs. Partner with the HR Manager in the development and enhancement of Talent Development, Performance Management and Retention Programs.
    Champion racial equity and a culture of inclusiveness and engagement.

    Builds a culture of engagement for the organization that aligns with business strategy and HR strategy.

    Partner with the HR Manager in developing and updating Court/HR policies that promote an engaged, committed, inclusive, high-performing, and supported workplace; identify and address inequities to HR programs.

    Serve as a strategic HR consultant.

    Provides counsel and expertise to Court Leadership team and staff regarding performance management and development.
    Minimum


    qualifications:
    We


    are looking for candidates that can demonstrate they have the skills listed above through a combination of their work, education, and life experience as demonstrated in their resume, and cover letter.


    Experience:
    Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in professional human resources administration.

    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in employee and/or labor relations work in a comparable organization, including conducting or providing oversight for investigations.


    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).


    License:
    Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    Demonstrated experience in a leadership role in a complex unionized environment.
    Knowledge of Washington State labor laws and regulations.
    Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills.

    The full salary range for this position is $ $72.23. T he salary for this individual role has been identified as $ $65.00 hourly.
