Payroll status:
Salaried, Exempt.


Salary Range:
$44,100 - $54,600 annually

Pay period:
Bi-weekly/26 Pay Periods Annually.

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., or until Essential Functions are completed;
some weekend and/or evening hours will be required.
QK offers customers seven (7) Obedience Training Sessions, each lasting six (6)
weeks, over the course of a calendar year. The Training Sessions are normally
separated by one week (the "Break Weeks"). During Break Weeks, the Trainer

  • Level 1 is expected to provide supervision, training and education to QK staff; to
assist in developing QK programs; provide client outreach; and to engage in all
QK operations as assigned. In addition, the Trainer - Level 1 may, at the
discretion of QK management, conduct additional private training.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
TRAINER - LEVEL 1: OBEDIENCE
As a TRAINER - Level 1 at Quinebaug Kennels, you will play an important role in shaping the behavior,
obedience, and specialized skills of our clients' dogs, with a primary focus on Obedience Training.

training methodology. You are expected and required to evaluate each dog and, where appropriate, its
owner, in developing a training regimen for that dog. The job demands a passionate commitment to
the well-being, discipline, and performance of dogs and puppies


Essential Job Functions:


  • Know, follow, and implement the
comprehensive proprietary QK obedience
training methodology tailored to individual
dogs and puppies.

  • Conduct individual and group training sessions
to instill the QK Obedience Foundation to all
dogs and puppies.

  • Conduct Gun Dog Foundation training based
on training program enrollments.

  • Evaluate and assess dogs to finetune training
programs based on their unique needs and
potential.

  • Maintain detailed records of each dog's
training progress and provide comprehensive
owner updates on a weekly basis.

  • Supervise Trainer Assistants in the
performance of their duties while collaborating
with fellow trainers and kennel staff to
maintain a cohesive training environment.

  • Teach, train and coach Trainers Assistants
and kennel staff in the QK philosophies and
methodologies.

  • Integrate all aspects of training, including dog
health, kennel facilities care, client relations,
office administration support, and teaching
private lessons.

  • Conduct training at the kennels, and upon
approval at external hunting areas.

Evaluations:
QK Management will conduct regular and where necessary interim evaluations aimed at identifying strengths
and weaknesses in the Trainer's performance.


Qualifications:


  • Basic training and experience as a Trainers
Assistant at QK or an equivalent level of
experience.

  • Ability to successfully train Obedience Dogs.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to QK's
proprietary training methodology.

  • Indepth knowledge of various dog breeds,
the QK obedience training techniques, and
general training methodologies.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with dog
owners and all QK staff.

  • Ability to prepare and maintain clear and
comprehensive written reports and summaries
of training progress.

  • Ability to adapt training techniques to meet
the unique needs of each dog.

  • Ability to work on some weekends or limited
evening hours to accommodate clients, QK
Seminars and Events.

  • Ability to get to and from Quinebaug Kennels
on time and in all seasons.
Physical Demands
In working with and training dogs, the TRAINER - Level 1 will frequently work outdoors in all weather
conditions. The TRAINER - Level 1 may need to throw and retrieve training tools. The TRAINER - Level
1 will also work indoors at the Kennels. The TRAINER - Level 1 must leash and unleash dogs of all sizes
and adjust and train dogs. The TRAINER - Level 1 must be able to perceive and continuously evaluate
the performance of dogs under his or her care. The TRAINER - Level 1 must be able to guide or
maneuver dogs weighing in excess of 50 pounds onto raised surfaces, structur
