The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) software stack is a complex workload that includes compute and data intensive functions within perception, prediction, planning and control.
This role is within the ML Accelerators (MLA) team which is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the software stack for real-time, on-road performance.
This means optimal workload mapping onto a complex, resource-constrained hardware, co-architecting the HW platform with HW engineers and building platforms and tools for AI deployment and performance profiling, diagnosis and optimizations that can be employed by AV engineers (from perception, prediction, planning and controls).
MLA engineers work in close collaboration with AV engineers throughout the lifecycle of creating new AV features which is critical to the success of our mission.
In this role, you will be contributing to development of easy-to-use performance tools to improve the productivity of AV Engineers and Performance experts.
These tools can help in root-causing performance regressions, improving interpretability of performance data or bridging gaps in existing AV engineering workflows thereby reducing the dependency on performance experts to be in the loop.

Design and build tools which will surface insights of AV system performance for AV engineers and performance experts
Improve the scalability and usability of existing performance tools
Collaborate with customers and tech leads to identify workflow performance tooling gaps in AV development cycle
Develop proof-of-concept solutions to assess viability of proposed solution
Help educate AV Engineers on available performance tools
Build a multi quarter roadmap for Performance tools
What you must have:
5+ years of relevant industry experience
Demonstrated experience in writing production quality Python and C++ code
Experience in building production-ready and easy-to-use performance tools
Understanding of performance considerations for a heterogeneous compute system running a real time load
Comfortable in good software development practices - coding, debugging, testing, code reviewing
Experience working in cross-functional projects and communicating with customers
Bonus Points
MS or PhD in CS, or related technical field or equivalent experience
Familiarity with CPU/GPU performance tracing libraries.
Familiarity with the AV SW Stack (behavior, performance, and implementation)
Experience with computer architecture and HW accelerators
Experience with GPUs and domain specific accelerator SW stacks
Experience using/building usable wrappers around vendor perf tools
Familiarity with Typescript/Javascript
The salary range for this position is $193, ,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
