    Description
    THE ROLE

    Akey contributor to the mission through financial reporting requirements such as 990 tax filings (National and Chapters), monthly, quarterly, and budget financial reporting. The Finance Floater will be expected to develop a complete understanding of existing Make-A-Wish financial reporting to support during seasonal surges and innovate in areas where improvements may be made.

    Where You Come In

    As the Lead Manager, Accounting Surge

  • Determine and communicate instructions for chapter and National 990s; Independently Prepare, review and analyze Form 990, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of all tax filings
  • Coordinate annual audit, including preparing and analyzing data for external auditors, and ensuring proper filing of tax returns.
  • Stay up to date with IRS regulations and compliance requirements for tax-exempt organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and industry best practices, making recommendations for process improvements as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of tax-related documents and correspondence.
  • Responsible for driving work to meet deadlines with chapters, national and external groups, collaborating with the accounting services and audit teams and other departments to gather required information
  • Support the audit process with responsibility for key schedules including FAS157 footnote and other cash, receivables, and endowment related testing.
  • Work in partnership with Finance leadership to support national and chapter accounting services during surge period of September-December.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Need

  • Nonprofit accounting and tax accounting experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, preferred.
  • Previous experience with NetSuite or similar systems
  • Demonstrated expertise using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • CPA designation and nonprofit experience a plus
  • High level communication skills to lead, influence and negotiate across the organization.
  • Growth mindset, inspired to innovate and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Position may require travel to organizational conferences and events.
