Responsibilities:


_ Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center_ offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE-approved and certified facility.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, which confers RN, AD or diploma in Nursing
  • Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or have a multistate license
  • Prefer experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. New Nurses will be considered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations.
  • Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.


The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 7-17.

Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures, the Nurse Practice Act, and maintain patient safety.

Charge Nurse provides assistance and support to the Nurse Manager in management of daily nursing care, as well as leadership, provides training and mentoring to new nurses, and acts as a resource to all nursing and direct care staff.

Serves as a role model for staff and residents and demonstrates service excellence.


Essential Functions:


  • Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Monitors, reports, and documents the residents' behavior and physiological status.
  • Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.
