Port Comfort Power Station is a cutting-edge peaking power plant boasting a capacity of 100MW.

At the heart of this facility are two aero-derivative GE LM6000 simple cycle gas turbines, known for their efficiency and reliability.

The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art Allen Bradley controls, ensuring seamless operation and precision in power generation. VPPII is a 100MW peaking power plant.


Opportunity Summary


The Operations & Maintenance / IC&E (O&M) Technician at Port Comfort Power Station plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of critical equipment, including two aero-derivative GE LM6000 gas turbines.

Their responsibilities encompass monitoring operational parameters, conducting routine inspections, and collaborating with engineering teams to optimize control systems, all aimed at maximizing performance, reliability, and efficiency.

With a focus on precision and dedication to safety, the O&M Technician contributes to maintaining the plant's operational excellence while upholding stringent safety and regulatory standards.

This position will primarily support Port Comfort Power Station, but will also provide backup support to the Victoria Port Power II station in Victoria, TX.


Primary Functions

  • Assist in the operation of equipment, meticulously monitoring operational parameters to ensure the reliable and continuous functionality of the peaking power plant, which boasts a capacity of 100MW.
  • Operate and maintain a diverse range of power plant equipment, including the two aeroderivative GE LM6000 gas turbines at the core of the facility, renowned for their efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems associated with gas turbines, ensuring accurate measurement and control of critical parameters such as fuel flow, temperature, pressure, and speed to uphold optimal performance.
  • Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of all plant processes and promptly take appropriate actions upon detecting any issues, ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
  • Utilize stateoftheart Allen Bradley controls to read meters, gauges, or monitor automatic devices, meticulously recording crucial data such as equipment operating temperatures, vibration, operating hours, pressure, and fluid levels to verify optimal operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement upgrades, modifications, and enhancements to the plant's control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, to optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency of gas turbine operations.
  • Conduct regular visual inspections of equipment, attentively listening for any malfunctions, and promptly identifying the need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication, maintaining peak performance.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance by executing tasks such as cleaning, adjusting, tightening, and performing preventive or corrective maintenance, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the power plant.
  • Promptly identify equipment requiring corrective maintenance and diligently draft and submit corrective work orders to address any issues.
  • Support team members in executing maintenance plans, providing assistance with Lockout/Tagout procedures, equipment identification, troubleshooting, work request preparation, and other necessary tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for contractors when needed for larger scope projects, facilitating effective coordination and completion to uphold the plant's operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate unwavering support and active participation in NAES Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs, prioritizing a culture of safety in all aspects of plant operations.
  • Prioritize a clean and safe work environment by consistently performing housekeeping tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the power plant.
  • Remain flexible and responsive to the needs of the plant, willingly fulfilling any additional tasks as requested to ensure the seamless operation of the facility.

The O&M Technician reports to the Plant Manager and cooperates with all plant personnel relative to the operation and maintenance of the facility.
