    SALARY:

    Information Systems Specialist 8 (C1488)

    $7,478 - $11,337/per month Non-PERS Rate

    $7,926 - $12,017/per month PERS Rate

    Underfill Information Systems Specialist 7 (C1487):

    $6,555 - $9,909/per month NON-PERS

    $6,949 - $10,505/per month PERS

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise and input into the development of the Information Security program. This is accomplished in part by, but is not limited to:

    • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of agency's assets by providing guidance on security incidents, security features and/or risks.
    • Monitor and analyze security systems and logs for suspicious activity or breaches.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, industry standards, and best practices.
    • Conduct regular assessments of agency systems to ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and/or external regulatory requirements.
    • Evaluate, develop, implement, and manage network security hardware and software including but not limited to servers, security appliances and network monitoring tools.
    • Monitor, track compliance and document incident handling responses.
    • Complete vulnerability scans, Information System Security audits, analysis, risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, intrusion detection/prevention and log monitoring of computing resources.
    • Provide analysis, definition and the recommendation of information assurance and security requirements for advancing Information Security technologies within the Agency.

    You must be a current State of Oregon employee and your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following:

    (a) Seven (7) years of information systems experience in security administration or security data analysis.

    OR

    (b) An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND five (5) years of information systems experience in security administration or security data analysis.

    OR

    (c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in security administration or security data analysis.

    OR

    (d) A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; AND one (1) year of information systems experience in security administration or security data analysis.

    Work history in security administration or security data analysis must include:

    • Conducting security risk assessments and providing recommendations.
    • Experience creating and implementing security policies.
    • Evaluating and implementing security hardware and software

    • Experience with a SIEM, Log management/log correlation or event management system.

    Underfill Option: Information Systems Specialist 7 (C1487) Qualifications:

    Underfill Option: The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at the Information Systems Specialist 8 level, however, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Information Systems Specialist 7 level to apply. If we are unable to fill the position at the higher level we will consider underfilling the position at the Information Systems Specialist 7 level.

    You must be a current State of Oregon employee and your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following:

    (a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in security administration or security data analysis.

    OR

    • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6%.
