    Description
    The Interventionist reports to the School Principal.


    The goal of the Interventionist is to assist students who have been identified as at-risk with math and/or reading intervention to provide a continuum of support and help them get on grade level.


    Instructional Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math/reading services in
    individual, and/or small group settings.

    • Identifies needs to guide the learning process toward student
    achievement of the district's math/reading content standards. Establishes clear objectives for
    all lessons, units, and projects using formal and informal assessment data
    obtained from students.

    • Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content
    standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups
    involved.

    • Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is
    conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.


    • Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (POSITION EXPECTATIONS):

    • Knowledge of various methods of teaching math and reading to students who struggle in these areas.
    • Great organizational skills
    • Effective communication skills
    • One (1) year successful experience in administration/supervision is preferable

    Education and/or Experience:
    High school graduation or another equivalent (i.e., General Educational Development (GED), foreign equivalency, etc.).
